Hy-Vee attempts to set Guinness World Records title
Hy-Vee will attempt to break the Guinness World Records title for the largest serving of pancakes on June 24.
This initiative comes on the heels of the company’s new “Best Breakfast in America” menu offerings, which fall in conjunction with the retailer’s commitment to tackling food insecurity, the company said.
Once the event has been completed, all pancakes made at the time will be donated to Harvesters - The Community Food Network in Kansas City, which helps feed local families in Missouri and Kansas.
The current Guinness World Records title for the largest serving of pancakes was set in Moscow, Russia in 2017, with 12,716 pancakes. Hy-Vee is attempting to surpass the previous record by preparing an estimated 13,000 pancakes.
If the attempt is successful, an adjudicator from Guinness World Records who will be on-site during the event will certify that Hy-Vee has achieved the Guinness World Records title for the largest serving of pancakes.
The attempt will take place at the Hy-Vee in Blue Springs, Mo., where 18 talented Hy-Vee chefs will rotate between six griddles from 5 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m., flipping pancakes until the team reaches 13,000.
Harvesters – The Community Food Network predicted that the projected 13,000 pancakes Hy-Vee will prepare will feed 6,500 individuals, or more than 1,600 families, in need across Missouri and Kansas.
