Hy-Vee dietitians to host events, provide A1C screenings

Throughout November, Hy-Vee dietitians will offer free A1C screenings, as well as host a health fair, virtual cooking classes and store tours focused on helping carb-conscious customers.

Throughout November, Hy-Vee’s registered dietitians will host free events focused on managing carbohydrate intake, as well as low-carb educational events.

These events, which are to include store tours, cooking classes and A1C screenings, also aim to help customers with tips and information on how they can shop and prepare healthy, low-carb meal traditions for the holiday season. 

At more the 50 of the retailer’s locations, dietitians will conduct 1,000 free A1C screenings powered by Blue Diamond, Catalina Crunch, Right Rice, Zevia and Quaker.

In addition, Hy-Vee dietitians also will lead multiple “Holiday Carb Swap” virtual cooking classes throughout November that will focus on adjusting holiday meal traditions through healthy, low-carb additions.

Meals consumers will prepare during the virtual cooking classes include Slow Cooker Korean Beef, Pork Carnitas, Honey Garlic Chicken, Firecracker Grilled Salmon and Apple Cinnamon Baked Oatmeal. 

Lastly, Hy-Vee dietitians will host virtual store tours that will educate viewers on the basics of a diabetes meal plan, and provide shopping tips as well as product recommendations.

The tours and classes listed above will be offered throughout the month of November, the company said.
