MegaFood adds magnesium chews, powders

Supplement maker MegaFood is adding two products containing magnesium to its lineup. The Manchester, N.H.-based company has launched Relax + Calm Magnesium Soft Chews and Relax + Calm Magnesium Powders. 

MegaFood said that magnesium helps support the nervous system and muscle relaxation. It also plays an important role in more than 300 enzyme systems, including metabolism, cardiovascular and muscular functions. The new products were formulated by Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, the company’s chief medical advisor and an expert in dietary supplements and botanical medicine. 

“I call magnesium the magical mineral, as it is so important for our overall health and wellbeing,” Low Dog said. “Because it is so crucial, we've created two easy and convenient ways for people to incorporate magnesium into their daily supplement routine.”

The chews each contain 250 mg of magnesium in a combination of magnesium citrate and malate forms. The grape-flavored chews offer an alternative to tablets and are individually wrapped. They also are vegetarian and free of gelatin and carry a suggested retail price of $17.96. The powders are available in two flavors — blackberry hibiscus oasis and raspberry lemonade — each of which contains 300 g of magnesium per serving and includes a combination of magnesium citrate, malate and glycinate forms. The powders are sold in jars or individual packs, making them easy to add to a favorite drink or food.
