Meijer adjusts Black Friday sale due to pandemic

Meijer is putting a twist on its traditional Black Friday sales.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer announced that it will be making the traditionally one-day event into a weeklong opportunity that allows shoppers to adjust their shopping strategies due to the ongoing pandemic.

Beginning Nov. 22 and extending through Nov. 28, shoppers can expect to find deals on items featured as part of doorbuster and daily deals throughout the week, as well as the extension of its Santa Bucks.

“We’ve worked hard to provide a balance between great prices and the understanding customers will want options for how and when they will shop,” Peter Whitsett, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing for Meijer said. “We hope this sneak peek gives shoppers plenty of time to plan ahead and be able to shop with social distancing in mind as they check items off their lists this year.”

In addition, to help with the shopping demands, Meijer has updated its mobile app to allow users the ability to seamlessly access weekly ads, sale items and the availability to shop via the Shop & Scan tool or have orders fulfilled for pickup or delivery, the company said.

Ad previews are currently available to shoppers via the Meijer app and website.
