Meijer expands its contactless pharmacy service
Meijer is continuing its efforts to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging customers to use its new contactless pharmacy tool when it comes to managing prescriptions, scheduling vaccinations and filling out required forms before visiting the pharmacy in person.
Customers are able to access the personalized app via a link in a text message sent by Meijer’s pharmacists to their mobile phones.
From there, users also are able to confirm their prescription pickup time and connect their Meijer mPerks to their transaction and checkout, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company said.
“With all of the unprecedented changes this year, we know our customers feel there is nothing more important than maintaining their family's health,” Meijer’s vice president of pharmacy, Jason Beauch, said. “We hope this innovative technology provides a seamless experience that makes getting vaccines and filling prescriptions as stress free as possible.”
Just ahead of flu season, patients looking to get their flu shot are able to fill out their immunization form on the app and give their consent before physically stepping foot inside the pharmacy.
Flu shots can be scheduled as far as 10 days in advance and, on the scheduled day, patients will receive a reminder via text message. The app also will notify the State Registry for Immunizations and the patient’s primary care provider that the vaccination has been administered, the company said.
