Meijer is preparing its stores with increased safety and convenience measures ahead of the holiday shopping season.
Several steps are being taken by the retailer to make this a reality, including encouraging customers to shop using its delivery services and Meijer Pickup service, which will be adding more time slots to fit consumers’ needs.
Hand sanitizer stations also will be installed in each store over the course of the holiday season, with locations adding as many as eight stations near such high-traffic travel paths as entryways, pharmacies, produce areas and checkout lanes.
Enhanced store cleaning procedures of high-touch surface areas will be done overnight, as will a deep cleaning.
In addition, promotions including Black Friday deals and Santa Bucks offers will be extended as a way for shoppers to safely shop, while maintaining a social distance, the company said.
“This holiday season will be different for many customers, so we are pleased to make adjustments that will provide additional flexibility, while allowing them to enjoy all we have to offer,” Meijer president and CEO Rick Keyes said. “Regardless of how customers choose to shop, we will provide a clean, socially distanced and enjoyable shopping experience.”
Nonprofits that show their W9 and 501c3 tax forms will be able to participate in several in-store savings.
Special shopping hours for essential workers, senior citizens and those with chronic health conditions will continue to be observed, and Meijer will adjust its Thanksgiving hours so employees can enjoy the day to celebrate with their own family, the company said.
