NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson discussed the importance of strong leadership in times of crisis with Peter Cressy, director of the George Washington Leadership Institute of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon.

During the wide-ranging “Lessons in Leadership with Steve Anderson,” they explored the work being accomplished by the industry and NACDS on behalf of the American people during the COVID-19 pandemic; racism and discrimination in America; and what today’s business and government leaders can learn from the leadership of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Franklin Roosevelt.

On the subject of vaccinations, and a potential COVID-19 vaccine, Anderson said, "We can immunize for certain illnesses in 50 states. In the last flu season, 2018-2019, one third of all adults received their flu shot in one of our member company's stores. That's about 35 million people. The infrastructure is there. We are preparing now for the vaccine when it becomes available. We are ready to go."
