NACDS issues Call to Action Feb. 26 virtual “PBM Patrol” Watch Party
NACDS RxIMPACT is issuing a call to make sure the U.S. House knows pharmacies will be watching when the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee holds a hearing on pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) tactics on Feb. 26 at 10:00 am ET. People who are interested can tune in and demonstrate to Congress immediate action on PBM reform is critically important for Americans and for their pharmacies.
In announcing the hearing, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.) and House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee Chair Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) foreshadow the tone of this event by saying: “As outlined in recent reports, significant consolidation in the PBM marketplace has led to fewer options for patients and employers and less competition to keep out-of-pocket drug costs in check. Over the past few years, this Subcommittee has led on a myriad of legislative solutions which will help guide our continued work toward delivering high quality health care for the American people.”
“With your help we can help this hearing lead to not only further discussion, but much needed action! Together, let’s remind U.S. Representatives what’s REALLY important in the PBM reform conversation. NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on YOU to join our “PBM Patrol” Watch Party! How is this impactful? The more advocates that register, the stronger the PBM reform message sent to your U.S. Representatives (so please share this invite with friends, colleagues, employees!),” NACDS said.

Two ways to engage with the “PBM Patrol” Watch Party:
Watch the Feb. 26 House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee Hearing at 10:00 am ET.
Can’t make it but want to watch later? Register and NACDS will share a recording of the event.
The organization is asking attendees to register before Feb. 24 at 1:00 pm ET, as it will share with leaders the tally of constituents who will be watching the Feb. 26 hearing. These details may inspire leaders to attend—or even speak up at—the hearing given they’ll know constituents will be watching for their leadership. With your help, we can have a significant impact on hearing discussions, NACDS said.
Last time the “PBM Patrol” assembled to watch a PBM reform hearing, more than 1,600 registered to attend the event. This gathering is a powerful way to showcase to U.S. Representatives that constituents at home are watching, NACDS said. Work with the NACDS RxIMPACT community to turn the tide on PBM practices that put profits before people and that jeopardize the pharmacies on which Americans rely.
