The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has announced that 28-time Olympic Gold Medalist will be the keynote speaker at the 25th annual Foundation Dinner in San Diego.

Unlike past years, the Foundation Dinner will, for the first time, coincide with the NACDS Total Store Expo in August. NACDS said the dinner is a “special evening where friends and colleagues come together to celebrate our shared commitment to communities and advancing public health.” Proceeds from the Dinner support research, pharmacy education and related philanthropic initiatives.

“With the strong engagement of the NACDS Foundation’s Board of Directors, benefactors, and collaborators, we look forward to bringing the event to the energetic and high-profile venue of the NACDS Total Store Expo,” said Sara Roszak, NACDS Foundation president. “This move will empower the continued expansion of the NACDS Foundation’s reach for the ultimate benefit of the American public.”

Phelps captured 28 Olympic medals, including a record-setting 23 gold medals and set 39 world records over the course of his distinguished career. Phelps utilized his performance bonus for winning eight gold medals in 2008 to establish the Michael Phelps Foundation, which promotes water safety, healthy living (physical and mental) and the pursuit of dreams.
