Luster's Pink launches Comfort Oil Scalp Serum, updates look for hair lotion, glosser


Luster Products has expanded its Luster's Pink product range with the launch of a Comfort Oil scalp serum.

A manufacturer of premium personal care products, Luster Products also unveiled an updated look for its classic Oil Moisturizer Hair Lotion and Glosser.

The Lusters Pink Comfort Oil scalp serum is formulated with a combination of natural oils and botanical extracts that soothes and calms dry, itchy scalps with a comforting tingle. It also delivers shine to dry, dull hair, the company said.

With the introduction of our Comfort Oil, we wanted to address common concerns we hear from consumers about the various scalp conditions they experience while wearing different looks; especially, protective styles such as braids, wigs or sew-in weaves, which can put extra tension on the scalp and increase the chance for build-up, dryness and irritation, said Resa Luster-Mac, senior brand manager and third generation Luster executive at Luster Products. Our new Comfort Oil scalp serum will help to relieve and alleviate some of these scalp challenges from the very first use.

The Comfort Oil joins Lusters Pink Natural Oil Blends collection, which also includes its Lush Growth Oil and Trueshine Oil Mist.

Lusters Pink Comfort Oil is a soothing scalp serum that provides a comforting tingling sensation that calms scalp irritation and itchiness, relieves tension and lubricates dry scalp and helps to prevent flaking. It can be used daily for all hair types and styles and is safe for color-treated hair, the company noted.

The Comfort Oil is formulated with peppermint oil, lavender oil, camphor, aloe vera, clary sage oil, rosemary oil and more.

Roche obtains FDA nod for new indication of Xofluza


The Food and Drug Administration has approved Roche’s Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) for the treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza in otherwise healthy children aged 5 years old to less than 12 years old who have been symptomatic for no more than 48 hours.

This marks the first single dose oral influenza medicine approved for children in this age group. Additionally, the FDA-approved Xofluza for the prevention (post-exposure prophylaxis) of influenza in children aged 5 years old to less than 12 years old following contact with someone with influenza.

“Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, influenza continues to be a threat to public health, and effective influenza antivirals remain critical to alleviating the burden on healthcare systems,” said Levi Garraway, Roche’s chief medical officer and head of global product development. “Xofluza has proven to be an important tool in fighting and preventing influenza in adults as well as adolescents, and we are pleased to now offer households and younger children our single-dose oral treatment.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, influenza can be a serious illness for young children. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there have been significantly fewer influenza cases, likely due in large part to social distancing and mask wearing. However, in the 2018-2019 influenza season, there were more than 6 million illnesses, thousands of hospitalizations and over 100 deaths among children aged 5 to 17 years old caused by influenza, Roche said.

“Historically, school-aged children have played a significant role in the community transmission of influenza. The annual influenza vaccine continues to be the most important first step to prevent illness in children, though there can still be breakthrough cases where antiviral treatment is needed,” said Pedro Piedra, miniSTONE-2 study investigator and professor of molecular virology, microbiology and pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. “Today’s FDA approval provides children with a single-dose antiviral option, Xofluza, to treat influenza.”

Xofluza already is FDA approved to treat influenza in people aged 12 years old and older who have had influenza symptoms for no more than 48 hours and who are otherwise healthy or at high risk of developing influenza-related complications.

Xofluza also is approved to prevent influenza in people aged 12 years old and older, following contact with someone with influenza (known as post-exposure prophylaxis).

Angry Orchard is introducing Angry Orchard Hardcore Dark Cherry Apple Imperial Hard Cider.

Pointing out that imperial higher ABV options are driving growth across beer, FMB and cider categories, Angry Orchard said that its newest innovation marks the brands first nationally available 8% ABV cider.

Made with traditional bittersweet cider apples and blended with dark cherry juice from concentrate for an easy to drink cider bursting with real fruit flavor, Hardcore Dark Cherry Apple is the perfect balance of crisp apple and tart cherry sweetness, the beverage brand said.

Arcutis Biotherapeutics, an early commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing meaningful innovations in immuno-dermatology, is introducing Zoryve (roflumilast) cream 0.3% for topical use for the treatment of plaque psoriasis in people aged 12 and older.

As the first and only topical phosphodiesterase-4 inhibitor approved for the treatment of plaque psoriasis, the medication clears plaques and reduces itch rapidly in all affected areas of the body, including intertriginous areas (areas of skin-to-skin contact).
