AmerisourceBergen VP strategic accounts retires after storied 37-year career

9/1/2016

VALLEY FORGE, Pa.  - Jerry Dale Cline, AmerisourceBergen VP strategic accounts, community & specialty pharmacy group is retiring after a 37-year career in the wholesale and retail drug industry, the wholesaler announced recently.

Cline began his drug wholesaler career at Fox-Vliet Drug Company in 1979. While there, Cline was a sales consultant at a time preceding the prime-vendor concept. He had the task of managing a variety of retailers, hospitals and clinics and transitioning his accounts from placing orders over the telephone to using an electronic order-entry platform.

In 1982, Cline joined one of AmerisourceBergen’s predecessor companies, Bergen Brunswig, where he was on the leading edge of the wholesale drug industry transition from a fractured purchasing platform to an established prime-vendor model. In 1990, Cline was promoted to division manager of Bergen Brunswig’s Tulsa Oklahoma Distribution Center, where he led a group of more than 100 associates servicing a diverse customer base in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Cline continued to advance to more challenging roles, ultimately serving as SVP retail sales and marketing. Most recently, Cline served as VP strategic accounts at AmerisourceBergen since 2012.
