A&P boosts flu program

10/26/2009

MONTVALE, N.J. —In light of the heightened concerns this cold and flu season, pharmacy retailers are bolstering their efforts to keep customers healthy, and A&P’s family of supermarkets is no exception.

The company—along with its banner stores A&P, Pathmark, Super Foodmart, Superfresh and Waldbaum’s—has developed a new flu vaccine program that enables shoppers to obtain free and discounted seasonal and H1N1 (when available) flu vaccinations.

A&P has teamed up with ESI Medical for the implementation of a series of multistate flu vaccination clinics that will run through Dec. 23. In total, A&P is hosting more than 600 flu vaccination clinics, offering seasonal and H1N1 (when available) flu vaccinations in 250 stores throughout six states. ESI Medical is a physician-owned home care agency that specializes in live-in and hourly care, and vaccinations for flu, shingles and travel.

In addition, the retailer is offering a buy one, get one free flu shot promotion. Through this new campaign, customers who use their Club Card through Oct. 29, and spend $100 on health-and-beauty care products (excluding baby items), will receive a Wellness Reward Certificate good for one free flu vaccination upon the purchase of an accompanying flu shot at $30. Any A&P shopper receiving a flu shot at an in-store clinic will receive a coupon book with savings on hundreds of cough, cold-flu, grocery, nonfoods and health items.
