Bartell Drugs' new South Lake Union store features beer on tap

8/15/2013

SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs’ new South Lake Union store, which opened its doors on Aug. 2, features a growler station where shoppers can get local beers straight out of the tap — a first for the family-owned pharmacy retailer.

According an article by the Puget Sound Business Journal, the growler station is proving to be a hit with shoppers as the new location went through keg after keg that first Friday.

A growler is a 64-oz. glass jug that is filled straight from the tap. And, in case customers don’t have their own jug, Bartell offers the glass jug for $8.99. The brew sells for $9.99 or $10.99 per growler, depending on the beer, the article stated.

The new store location also features some Northwest favorites, including cheeses, chocolates and wine.

The retailer operates 59 locations in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.
