SEATTLE -- Family-owned Bartell Drugs is getting ready to open another store in the Seattle area showcasing new features for convenience, quality health care and fresh foods.

The new store in Ballard, Wash., will host a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The more than 14,200-square-foot store is the 65th location in the 125-year-old chain’s regional network and is considered a signature store in the chain’s expansion into urban neighborhoods. Bartells says it is focusing on increasing its urban locations to better serve guests in some of the denser neighborhoods in Seattle and on the Eastside.

Bartells says the new store’s full-service pharmacy will offer a spacious waiting area and a wide range of healthcare options focused on convenience. Other store features include an expanded cosmetics section showcasing seasonal and on-trend colors, shades and products; a growler fill spot called “Northwest on Tap” offering locally-crafted microbrews; and a Fresh Food Fast Marketplace food section with a selection of fresh, locally made sandwiches.

“Bartell Drugs is proud of its long history in Ballard,” said Bartell President and CEO Brian Unmacht. “We’re excited to build on this tradition with our new store and to continue offering the convenience, service and outstanding lines of quality products — including our focus on local items — that has made Bartells a trusted retailer throughout the Northwest.”

Grand opening festivities will include giveaways such as gift baskets, special offers at the growler fill bar, and other great deals throughout the store. Plus, the first 200 people through the door will receive a limited-edition Bartell Tumbler with a Bartell Drugs’ gift card inside, ranging from $5 to $500.
