Bayer HealthCare introduces eight-month flea, tick collar

5/2/2013

SHAWNEE, Kan. — Bayer HealthCare has introduced a product for controlling fleas and ticks in dogs and cats that lasts eight months, the company's animal health division said Thursday.

Seresto is a collar that is designed to provide protection from parasites similar to that provided by monthly topical medications. The collar's active ingredients are flumethrin and imidacloprid, and the company said it kills fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours after application.

"No other flea or tick preventive provides eight months of effective flea and tick protection with only one application for both dogs or cats," Bayer HealthCare animal health division president and general manager Ian Spinks said. "Bayer HealthCare Animal Health wants to be the go-to company for parasiticide solutions. With Seresto, we give pet owners a new alternative to spot-on topical flea and tick and oral flea prevention."
