SALISBURY, N.C. — As expected, Bottom Dollar Food is closing its 66 store locations in the greater Philadelphia and greater Pittsburgh markets by Jan. 15, and will retire the banner's operations.
In November, Delhaize Group, the parent company of Bottom Dollar Food, announced that it had signed an agreement to sell its Bottom Dollar Food stores to deep-discount grocer Aldi for approximately $15 million, including the assumption of associated lease liabilities.
Delhaize Group had stated that all stores would remain open under the Bottom Dollar banner until year-end. After that time, Bottom Dollar would close the stores and retire the banner's operations.
"We want to thank our associates, customers and communities for their support over the past four years," said Gene Faller, VP of retail operations for Bottom Dollar Food.
