Boulder Canyon introduces 'on-trend' chip

5/21/2014

PHOENIX — Boulder Canyon Foods, a snack food manufacturer, on Tuesday introduced Ancient Grains, a whole-grain snack chip that combines grains and seeds to create a healthy snacking experience, the company said.

Ancient Grains blends together quinoa, millet, chia, amaranth, brown rice, brown teff and sorghum to create a chip that is thin, but hearty, the company said. The chip is then seasoned with garlic, red pepper, cumin and topped with sea salt.

"Quinoa is on-trend these days, but truthfully, it has been celebrated for centuries for its nutritional benefits," said Steve Sklar, SVP and general manager of Inventure Foods. "When formulating the recipe for Ancient Grains, we sought out ingredients that, when combined, offered a rare combination of taste and nutritional value. We believe snack food fans will rave about this new snack experience."

Ancient Grains Sea Salt can be found in grocery stores starting this month with a retail price of $3.49 to $3.99 for a 5.5-oz. bag. The chips are certified gluten-free, Kosher certified and contain no genetically modified organisms (i.e., non-GMO).
