Breyers goes gluten-free

5/8/2014

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Breyers announced that it will begin offering 36 gluten-free varieties, which will feature a "gluten-free" claim, in line with the Food and Drug Administration's rule on gluten-free labeling.

"As a brand known for offering frozen treats for the entire family, we're happy to announce 36 of our popular Breyers varieties are now labeled gluten-free," said Nick Soukas, director of ice cream for Unilever. "Now, people following a gluten-free diet can be sure that the flavors they know and love are compatible with their dietary needs."

The gluten-free label will begin appearing on Breyers products this month and will include such varieties as Breyers Natural Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mint Chocolate Chip, certain Breyers Blasts flavors, Cherry Vanilla, Butter Pecan and Fat-Free Chocolate and Strawberry. A full list of gluten-free options can be viewed at Breyers.com. The recipes for these varieties will not change, the company said.
