Charitable arm of Rite Aid makes donation to FSCPA

HARRISBURG, Pa. The Rite Aid Foundation on Tuesday announced it awarded a $4,000 grant to Family Support of Central Pennsylvania, an organization that aims to prevent child abuse and build family strength through support and educational programs for parents and children.

“Rite Aid emphasizes being caring neighbors who are involved in our communities in meaningful ways,” stated Gayle Rife, manager of the Rite Aid Foundation. “We are pleased, once again to help Family Support of Central PA as it continues to provide important child abuse prevention services to our community.”

FSCPA will use the grant to fund its 12 child abuse prevention programs across central Pennsylvania, the Foundation reported. In 2009, The Rite Aid Foundation awarded FSCPA $3,550 to support its Grandparent Families/Kinship Care program.

Anot-for-profit organization established in 1970, FSCPA hosts support groups for people seeking help and advice for challenges their families are facing. Through FSCPA, parents and guardians exchange parenting tips, learn ways to reduce stress and cultivate a healthy family lifestyle.

"Raising children has many rewards, but there are challenges too," stated Lori Reiser Leitzel, founder and executive director of FSCPA. “Family Support of Central PA provides resources, support and a safe place for caretakers to talk with one another and share advice. Thanks to the grant from The Rite Aid Foundation, we’ll be able to continue to provide these services, helping over 300 families in Central PA each year.”
