A chemical analyzer that fits in the palm of your hand

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- A new smartphone device is aiming to disrupt the personal health care industry.

MyDx is the first battery operated, handheld, chemical analyzer for consumers. The patented device is being developed to tell consumers everything from the chemical toxicity of the water in their cup to the THC levels of cannabis, which is the first market that MyDx is pursuing due to the industry’s rapid growth and high demand for a practical and cost-effective testing device.

MyDx was founded by former Pfizer scientist and Panasonic technology and market developer Daniel Yazbeck, who was concerned about the chemicals surrounding our daily lives, including the growing number of pesticides that are sprayed on most fruits and vegetables.

“The advantage [of MyDx] is empowering people to make more informed decisions, to trust and verify for themselves the chemicals in what they eat, drink and inhale,” Yazbeck said. 

The company recently announced a $4 million distribution agreement targeting the cannabis market. This follows its initial revenues of close to $219,000 in its first quarter of sales, which was generated almost exclusively from direct to consumer online sales following a modest marketing campaign.
