CHPA Educational Foundation to host inaugural awards gala in November

1/29/2016

WASHINGTON - The Consumer Healthcare Products Association's Educational Foundation will be hosting its inaugural gala and awards ceremony at the Rainbow Room in New York on Nov. 14, where the CHPA Educational Foundation Board of Directors and the CHPA Board of Directors will come together for a night to celebrate the foundation’s mission of happier, healthier lives through responsible self-care.

"Our program will include recognition and remarks from members of the healthcare community whose partnership with the CHPA Educational Foundation have made significant strides to advance public education around safe use, storage and disposal of OTC medicines and dietary supplements," the association stated.

As many as nine CHPA member companies financially supported the foundation for the first time in 2015 and three new companies made an in-kind donation, CHPA shared in a e-newsletter that went out Friday. In addition, four new patient and provider group partners were added to the 50 nationally recognized organizations with which the CHPA Educational Foundation collaborates. "We engaged more than 800,000 consumers and healthcare providers, generated over 155 million impressions, distributed more than 707,000 educational materials, and experienced 100% coalition participation in our flagship campaigns [in 2015]," the association noted.

It's been a banner year for the Educational Foundation.  In the spring of 2015, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association Educational Foundation unveiled a new name and look for its online hub. KnowYourOTCs.org replaced OTCsafety.org as the go-to source for consumers seeking information on the safe use, storage and disposal of over-the-counter medicines. According to the company's report, the new site realized a 124% increase in return visits vs. the old site. "We're maintaining impressive engagement rates and exceeding industry standards with a 184% increase in engagements on Twitter and a 28% inrease in engagements on Facebook," the foundation noted.
