CRN to celebrate 20th anniversary of DSHEA

10/2/2014

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Wednesday announced it will participate in a month-long celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. The celebratory effort will make strong use of CRN’s online platforms throughout the month of October, and involve consumer education; recognition of champions behind this legislative accomplishment; highlights of significant milestones; and expert insight into how the law has served the industry and consumers — plus what the next 20 years might look like.

Key activities will involve:

  • #DSHEA20 Tweet Chat for Consumers: The Myths & Facts of DSHEA (Oct. 22);

  • Social Media “Throwback Thursdays” (Oct. 2, 9, 16, and 23); and

  • Educational videos featuring CRN leadership

“The passage of DSHEA was monumental, for both our industry and consumers, and we are pleased to dedicate a full month to honor its 20-year legacy," said Steve Mister, CRN president and CEO. "DSHEA has granted FDA an appropriate regulatory framework, created an atmosphere for industry growth and innovation and allowed consumers the access they desire to a wide variety of affordable, high quality, safe and beneficial dietary supplement products."
