CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, CVS/pharmacy provide support for Hurricane Isaac relief efforts

WOONSOCKET, R.I. —The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust and CVS/pharmacy have announced a donation of more than $20,000 in support of communities that have been affected by Hurricane Isaac.



The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust has donated $15,000 to the American Red Cross to support relief and recovery efforts. CVS/pharmacy also is providing nearly 1,000 first aid kits and nearly $5,000 in additional financial support to Red Cross shelters across Louisiana and Mississippi.



Almost all CVS/pharmacy stores in Louisiana and Mississippi now are open. Only six stores currently are closed and they will reopen as soon as safely possible, the retailer stated.



"Hurricane Isaac has impacted many of the communities we serve in Louisiana and Mississippi," said Eileen Howard Boone, SVP corporate communications and community relations for CVS Caremark.  "We are committed to supporting relief efforts in these communities and we hope our customers and colleagues in affected areas can safely return home soon."



The company also is supporting its employees who have been affected by the hurricane through the CVS Caremark Employee Relief Fund.  Launched in 2011, the Employee Relief Fund provides short-term, immediate financial relief to employees who've suffered significant hardship as a result of a natural disaster, family death, medical emergency or other unforeseen events.
