CVS Caremark Charity Classic raises $1.8 million

WOONSOCKET, R.I. The CVS Caremark Charity Classic has donated $1.8 million to local charities and earmarked some funds to assist families in need during the current economic crisis.

PGA Pros and CVS Caremark Charity Classic hosts Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon joined company president, chairman and CEO Tom Ryan in presenting $1.8 million in funds raised at the 2008 CVS Caremark Charity Classic. Since the program’s inception in 1999, $12 million has been raised through the program.

This year, $360,000 was earmarked for organizations in the local community that provide food, shelter, health services and heat assistance for those in need or in transition.

“The CVS Caremark Charity Classic has become a signature event with a history of consistently generating funds to meet the needs of our local communities,” stated Ryan. “In our 10th year of presenting this world-class golf tournament, we are proud to have given back nearly $12 million to the communities in which we live and work.”
