6/21/2017

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — Points of Light, an organization dedicated to volunteer service, recently released its Civic 50 list, highlighting companies that are examples of good corporate citizenship. CVS Health was among the healthcare companies on the list, which was announced at the Points of Light Conference on Volunteering and Service in Seattle.

“We are fortunate at CVS Health to have colleagues and customers who are generous with their time, expertise and giving to make meaningful differences in the communities we serve,” CVS Health president and CEO Larry said. "As a pharmacy innovation company committed to helping people on their path to better health, we're always looking to identify new and effective ways to make our communities healthier places to work and live."

The recognition followed the company’s release of its 2016 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which showcased the company’s more than $90 million in support to communities that was given through the CVS Health Foundation, corporate grants, in-kind gifts and employee volunteerism. And 2016’s support was 65% higher year-over-year than in 2015. The company also pointed to its Project Health efforts, which connect patients with limited resources to preventive health services, as well as Pharmacists Teach, which sees pharmacists visiting high school health classes teaching about the dangers of drug abuse.

"At CVS Health, our purpose is helping people on their path to better health and we are committed to leveraging our resources, skills and experience to make a difference in our communities," said Eileen Howard Boone, SVP, Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropy, CVS Health, and president of the CVS Health Foundation. "We're honored to be recognized for that as a part of the Civic 50."

CVS Health also has recently been ranked on Fortune’s list of Most Admired Companies and was among the 100 Best Corporate Citizens, as ranked by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. The Civic 50 survey was administered True Impact and consisted of quantitative and multiple choice questions that inform the scoring process.

Other healthcare companies on the list were AbbiVie, Aetna, Health Care Service Corp., Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Wellcare Health and UnitedHealth Group. Also recognized were such CPG companies as Dr Pepper Snapple Group, General Mills and Hershey. Food Lion was the only retailer on the list.
