WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health is moving into year four of its fundraising campaign to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer. The company on Monday announced the latest effort, taking place Oct. 29 through Nov. 19 at CVS Pharmacy location nationwide, allowing customers to donate $1, $3 or more at checkout or online.
“Just about everyone knows someone battling cancer and it affects our customers, colleagues, and communities every day,” CVS Health EVP and CVS Pharmacy president Helena Foulkes said. “As a purpose-driven company dedicated to helping people on their path to better health, we're proud to support Stand Up To Cancer as they accelerate groundbreaking research to help save more lives.”
The company is supporting this year’s efforts with in-store radio and marketing efforts featuring Stand Up To Cancer ambassador, Golden Globe-winning actress and “Blackish” star Tracee Ellis Ross. The campaign also will feature a public service announcement created in partnership with comedy brand Funny or Die.
“I am honored to help raise awareness and funds for Stand Up To Cancer through CVS Health's fundraising campaign,” Ross said. “Cancer has touched so many of our lives, and I hope everyone will join me in helping make more cancer patients into survivors by donating in stores or online.”
Donations from the camnpaign will support Stand Up To Cancer’s collaborative cancer research model, which brings scientists from different institutions and disciplines together to translate their research from the lab to the patient. Previous efforts have supported targeted cancer therapies and immunotherapy advancement, the company said.
“Because of CVS Health's commitment to Stand Up To Cancer, we're able to make progress in increasing treatment options for patients and making advancements in the fight against cancer,” Stand Up To Cancer co-founder Sue Schwartz said. “We're are inspired by CVS Health's dedication to the health of their customers and are grateful to CVS Health and their customers for helping SU2C achieve our mission of making everyone diagnosed with cancer a survivor.”
CVS Health also has partnered with Hallmark this year to bring to stores two exclusive card collections — Stand Up To Cancer and Laugh for the Health of it — that are aimed at supporting hope, health and happiness.
