CVS, Lifelock partner to offer identity protection to ExtraCare members
WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS Caremark has partnered with LifeLock to offer LifeLock’s identity theft protection service to its millions of ExtraCare card members.
ExtraCare card members who sign up for LifeLock will receive LifeLock’s free 30-day trial, service at a discounted rate and a $10 CVS gift card.
“CVS is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and the service that LifeLock provides is unprecedented,” stated John Barron, director of relationship marketing for CVS/pharmacy. “Our goal is to continue to find ways to reward our ExtraCare customers with unique offerings. LifeLock’s one-million dollar total service guarantee makes them the exemplary leader in the field.”
The Federal Trade Commission reports that in 2007, U.S. consumers registered more than 800,000 identity theft and fraud complaints, up from 670,000 reported in 2006. For the seventh straight year, identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States, costing Americans $1.2 billion annually.
Located in Tempe, Ariz., LifeLock is known for the ads depicting its chief executive officer, Todd Davis, giving out his Social Security number. The private company was recently named recipient of the Red Herring 100 Global Award as one of the Top 100 start-ups in the world. It was also a winner of the 2007 American Business Award for the Best Radio Advertising Campaign, and a finalist for 10 other ABA awards, including Best New Company and Best New Product/Service.
