Delhaize Group announces departure of EVP, general counsel

BRUSSELS, Belgium — International food retailer Delhaize Group has announced that Maura Abeln Smith, EVP, general counsel and general secretary, will leave the company, effective Nov. 1.


A successor will be named in the near future, the company stated.


"I am grateful for Maura's service. She came to Delhaize Group at a time of transition in leadership. She was committed, worked diligently, and made significant contributions and we wish her well in her future endeavors," said Frans Muller, president and CEO of Delhaize Group.
