'The Descendants' to be launched on Blu-ray, DVD

LOS ANGELES — 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Fox Searchlight are bringing home one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year to Blu-ray combo pack and DVD.

Directed by Alexander Payne, "The Descendants" stars George Clooney and Shailene Woodley, and is based on the novel of the same name by Kaui Hart Hemmings. It follows the story of Matt King (Clooney, who was nominated for an Academy Award for the role), an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki.

The Blu-ray combo pack and DVD release of the film is packed with deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes extras and exclusive featurettes. "The Descendants" will hit retail on March 13.
