Dollar General expands workforce
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. Discount retailer Dollar General is adding 5,000 jobs as it opens 600 new stores over the next 12 months, according to the Associated Press.
The company, which posted a sales profit of 12.7% to $2.93 billion for third-quarter fiscal 2009, added 4,000 jobs in 2009 and currently operates 8,800 stores with about 78,000 staffers, AP said.
Last month, the company announced the retirement of its president, David Bere, who would leave his post at the end of the company’s current fiscal year.
