Drive Devilbiss launches SmartLink app

4/22/2016

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare this week unveiled a new app, developed in partnership with WillowTree, called SmartLink. The app allows patients to engage with Drive DeVilbiss’ IntelliPAP 2 CPAP device, which treats sleep apnea.

“With effortless feedback, clinically relevant notifications and alerts, and tailored, actionable insights into one’s sleep therapy, the SmartLink app will enrich the mundane relationship an individual with Sleep Apnea traditionally has with their equipment,” Drive DeVilbiss chief marketing officer Ed Link said. “We are excited to release an interactive user experience that will help enhance the quality of life of millions of individuals suffering from Sleep Apnea.”

The app uses Bluetooth to interface with the IntelliPAP 2, pulling daily data to help patients track their progress. The data captures includes qualitative data about how patients feel on the therapy, which can be transmitted to a user’s provider or used privately by them. Patients can also review color-coded feedback on therapy, receive notifications for high leak and low usage, receive reminders about replacing supplies and view data on daily, weekly and monthly usage. The app leverages patient data by allowing it to be sent to everyone involved in care.

“The Drive DeVilbiss CPAP and app are a great example of the Internet of Things done right,” WillowTree lead software engineer Jeff Ward said. “By combining Drive DeVilbiss’ device with SmartLink’s great user experience, we feel like we’ve created something really powerful that will have a positive impact on people’s everyday lives. By creating reliable communication between healthcare devices, we can place critical health information in the hands of users and their healthcare providers instantly, and keep them notified of any potential issues or problems that arise.”
