Duracell features superstar snowboarder Amy Purdy in latest video

3/5/2014

BETHEL, Conn. — Duracell released a third video for its "Trust Your Power" series, which aims to inspire by celebrating the enduring human spirit, featuring 34-year-old paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy. In the video, Purdy shares her story and how she found inspiration in the aftermath of a tragic diagnosis.

Purdy, who is competing in the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, began snowboarding when she was 15 years old. At 19, she contracted bacterial meningtis, which ultimately led to the amputation of both legs, just below the knee.

“When disease took my legs, I eventually realized I didn’t need them to lead a full, empowering life,” said Purdy, who is the third athlete to appear in Duracell’s inspirational “Trust Your Power” video series, and the first double-amputee to appear on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” “My goal has always been to live my life beyond limits by believing in seemingly impossible dreams and committing myself to making those dreams come true.”

The "Trust Your Power" series, including the most recent video with Purdy, can be found at YouTube.com/Duracell.
