FDA launches peanut recall widget
ROCKVILLE, Md. The Food and Drug Administration has a novel way to keep consumers up to date on the ongoing recalls of peanut-based food products.
The agency has created an Adobe Flash-based widget that users can embed on their Web pages with a continuously updated list of recalled products, categorized under headings such as brownies, candies, cereals and dressings and seasonings.
The embedded widget is available at http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/salmonellatyph/widget.html.
Last month, Peanut Corp. of America announced a voluntary recall of hundreds of its products following a nationwide outbreak of salmonella that has resulted in several deaths and dozens of illnesses.
