NEW YORK - Boxed.com, the online wholesale shopping club with no membership fees, on Thursday named former Sam's Club executive Heather Mayo the company's chief merchandising officer. Mayo will lead the development and execution of all merchandising strategies and initiatives, and will be responsible for delivering the optimal product assortment as dictated by the brand's strategy and unique target customer profile.
"Boxed is thrilled to welcome Heather, whose experience, leadership and vision helps to round out our leadership team," stated Elana Krieger, VP human resources, Boxed. "Chief merchant is one of the most important roles at Boxed as we continue to build vendor relationships and streamline our supply chain."
Mayo will be joining the Boxed team effective Nov. 7, reflecting the company's strategy of hiring seasoned wholesale veterans. Mayo joins Boxed with more than 21 years of merchandising and operations experience in the wholesale club industry. Mayo was most recently SVP operations at Sam's Club and earlier in her career worked for BJ's Wholesale Club as the assistant VP specialty business.
"Given the company's many strengths, I have great confidence that we can continue Boxed's explosive growth and ability to provide memorable experiences for our customers by driving value, convenience and delivering on our brand promise through our dedicated team," Mayo said.
