Brookshire Grocery Co. has revealed the new banner name for the Walmart Express stores it is acquiring.
The Tyler, Texas-based supermarket operator will open 26 locations this summer under the new banner of Spring Market. The stores will be on the sites of former Walmart Express stores that Brookshire is in the process of acquiring. (The acquisition is scheduled to close in July.) The locations range from southern Louisiana to west Texas.
The name “Spring Market” was chosen to honor the company’s history. Brookshire opened its first store 1928, on Spring Avenue in Tyler, Texas.
The stores will offer hometown convenience in an easy to shop format with a surprising assortment of products at highly competitive prices.
“Our Spring Market stores will stand for friendly service, quality products, affordable convenience and a pleasant shopping environment,” said chairman and CEO Brad Brookshire. “We look forward to making a positive difference in each of these communities through our people, products, stores and service.”
