Fruth Pharmacy donates scholarships to university students

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. Seven students at two West Virginia universities will receive $25,000 in scholarships sponsored by a local retail pharmacy chain.

Fruth Pharmacy announced Tuesday the recipients of the Fruth Scholarship Program, which raised $25,000 in early August through the 18th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament at the Greenhills Country Club in Ravenswood, W.Va.

Recipients of the scholarships were Marshall University students Justin Bowe, Ashley Hackett, Chesley Helmick, Krysta Jenkins and Jessi Ison, and West Virginia University students Brianna Darrow and Natalie Heckathorn.

Fruth, which operates 25 stores in southwestern West Virginia and southern Ohio, set up the program to support students at Marshall University, West Virginia University, the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy and the University of Rio Grande, in Ohio.
