GE, Healthline release BodyMaps app

9/5/2012

NEW YORK — General Electric and Healthline have introduced a new application that lets users explore the inside of the body, the companies announced Tuesday.

BodyMaps, designed to work with the Apple iPad's Retina display, features 3D, high-resolution images of more than 1,000 body parts, tissues, bones and organs and a searchable index.

It also includes 200 videos about different medical conditions, procedures and treatments and a mark-up tool that allows doctors and nurses to draw on the images and highlight information, according to the company. The app can be used with such social media services as Facebook, where users can share their markups and notes.
