8/19/2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — GMDC on Friday highlighted two key business sessions that the association will showcase at its 2013 GMDC General Merchandise Marketing Conference held in Phoenix Sept. 6 to 10.

The highlighted business sessions include Retail 2017 — The External Drivers of Change, a presentation that will showcase RetailNet Group’s STEIP framework, a tool that helps retailers and manufacturers identify and prioritize societal, technological, economic, industry and political forces of change.  RetailNet Group's VP and senior analyst Keith Anderson will share insights on tomorrow’s winning store formats, the evolution of pricing strategies, next-generation loyalty and retention models and a playbook for competing in a digital world.

There will also be the Nielsen and GM Hierarchy and Retailer Panel. Attendees of this session, taking place on the Sunday and Monday during the conference, will be shown examples of the data reports and presentation tools available to support the new GM category hierarchy.  Stuart Taylor, SVP, custom analytics with Nielsen and Todd Hale, SVP, consumer and shopper insights with Nielsen, will provide an overview of the tool along with some of the category insights available through this new solution.

In addition to the meeting sessions, this year’s GM Conference features educational workshops, new product showcases, expanded networking events and a special Guinness World Records Event.

GMDC’s Guinness World Record Event will be attempting to break five Guinness World Record titles in unique booths and one title at its main event during the dinner on Sunday evening. Each challenge booth will be hosted by GMDC Supplier Member companies located around the perimeter of the ballroom including Big Time Products, ShurTech Brands, American Greetings, Unilever and Quickie Manufacturing, with operational support provided by TNG.
