GSK launches inhaler recycling program

NEW YORK — GlaxoSmithKline is offering a recycling program for empty inhalers at retail pharmacies in 31 cities, the drug maker said Wednesday.


The company announced its "Complete the Cycle" program for GSK respiratory inhalers, starting in October.


The cities where the program is offered include Anchorage, Alaska; Ann Arbor, Mich.; Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Boston; Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas; Denver; Eugene, Ore.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Huntsville, Ala.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Kansas City, Mo.; Lexington, Ky.; Los Angeles; Louisville, Ky.; Milwaukee; Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.; New York; Oakland, Calif.; Philadelphia; Portland, Ore.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Richmond, Va.; Salt Lake City; San Francisco; Seattle; St. Louis; and Syracuse, N.Y.


The company will provide an in-store location for customers to drop off their inhalers, after which they'll be shipped to a specialized recycler.
