Target Corp. has lined up Greek yogurt giant Chobani to open an café in its upcoming store in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood.
The 45,000-sq.-ft. store, opening this October, will feature a Chobani Café. The cafe will have a natural theme, offering items made with Chobani’s signature Greek yogurt and hand-selected, artisanal ingredients. Also on the menu: sandwiches, soups, coffee and desserts, all made with only natural ingredients.
“The Chobani Café is a really special part of the brand that sets us apart and allows our beliefs around great food and great design to come to life. For us, it's a sort of a test kitchen for what you'll see us doing down the road, and for our fans, it's come to represent an incubation and inspiration destination," said Peter McGuinness, chief marketing officer, Chobani. “As we look to expand our cafés in more locations, the partnership with Target Tribeca was a great way to do that in downtown New York City. It's a perfect location in a great format that gives us a new opportunity to be innovative while providing a unique guest experience."
This will be Chobani’s second café. The first—Chobani SoHo—opened in the heart of New York’s SoHo neighborhood in 2012.
Target’s Tribeca store will be the first in New York City built in the retailer’s “flexible format.”
“Through Target’s flexible-format stores, we’re able to build customized stores in urban neighborhoods—like the Tribeca store—to make it easier for guests to shop,” said Anne Stanchfield, VP, flexible formats and localization, Target.
