Jean Coutu distributes free diabetes information kit

LONGUEUIL, Quebec The Jean Coutu Group began distributing a free “Taking Control of your Diabetes” kit, in partnership with Diabetes Quebec, beginning Nov. 3, the company announced Tuesday.

“The secret to living a full life with diabetes consists in managing the disease, that is to play an active role in controlling it and to be well informed,” stated Richard Mayrand, vice president of pharmacy and government affairs for the Jean Coutu Group. “The Jean Coutu Group is proud to provide some of the most indispensable tools for precisely that purpose.”

The kit includes information on diabetes, a nutritional guide and a recipe book, a DVD on the use of blood pressure monitors, samples of new products and other tools to inform diabetics on the importance of controlling the disease, as well as an outline of the professional health services available at Jean Coutu.

The Jean Coutu Group is also launching a “Living a Full Life with Diabetes” contest. Those who apply for membership to Diabetes Quebec (or the Canadian Diabetes Association for people living outside Quebec) by completing a Jean Coutu membership application form available in the Kit and in the PJC Jean Coutu circular will be eligible to win a $4,000 Canadian gift certificate for a sun destination of their choice or a $1,000 gift certificate redeemable in a Hotellerie champetre establishment. The draw of the gift certificates is scheduled for Dec. 21.
