'K-19: The Widowmaker' arrives on Blu-ray in May
HOLLYWOOD Director Kathryn Bigelow’s gripping film about a real-life disaster aboard a nuclear submarine sets a course for Blu-ray when "K-19: The Widowmaker" arrives May 4, 2010 from Paramount Home Entertainment.
Starring Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson, the film was inspired by a true story about an incident on a Soviet K-19 submarine in 1961 during the height of the Cold War. When the nuclear reactor core becomes exposed during the K-19’s maiden voyage, the captain (Ford) bravely tries to avert both the destruction of his ship and the start of a nuclear war while defending his command against a near mutiny lead by his executive officer (Neeson).
"K-19: The Widowmaker" Blu-ray features a host of bonus material including commentary by Kathryn Bigelow and cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, a making of featurette, a look at the makeup techniques, as well as additional featurettes and the original theatrical trailer. The suggested retail price is $29.99.
