Longs’ same-store sales jump in June

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Longs Drug Stores reported a better-than-expected 1.1 percent jump in June same-store sales with pharmacy sales leading the way.

The 510-store chain reported a 2.6 percent increase in pharmacy sales for the five-week period ended July 3, with front-end sales dropping 0.4 percent.

Longs said pharmacy sales continue to be impacted by the conversion of name-brand drugs to generics.
