McLure elected PCMA chairman

DANA POINT, Calif. Caremark president Howard McLure has been elected chairman of the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association’s board of directors.

PCMA is the national association representing America’s pharmacy benefit managers, which administer prescription drug plans for more than 210 million Americans with health coverage provided through Fortune 500 employers, health insurance plans, labor unions and Medicare Part D.

In his new role, McLure succeeds outgoing PCMA board chairman, George Paz, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Express Scripts.

McLure, who had served as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Caremark Rx since June 2005, became president of Caremark Pharmacy Services when the merger of CVS and Caremark was completed in March.

He joined Caremark in 1998 as senior vice president and chief accounting officer. From May 2000 to June 2005, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Caremark.
