FORT WORTH, Texas Retail clinic operator MedBasics announced on Thursday that it is expanding its convenient care concept with a new clinic in Fort Worth.

The new MedBasics Family Health Center, located inside the Carnival Super Market, marks the first grocery-based clinic in Tarrant County.

“We are extremely excited with the addition of the new MedBasics clinic next to the pharmacy in our Carnival store,” stated Ron Peters, vice president of pharmacy for Minyard Food Stores. “Our partnership with MedBasics is part of our continued focus on the health and wellness of our customers in the neighborhoods we serve.”

MedBasics also will open new clinics in Oak Cliff, Irving and Plano, bringing to six the total number of its family health centers in Dallas-Fort Worth by the end of the year. Another 21 locations are expected to open in stores owned by Minyard Food Stores during the next two years.

By 2010, the company plans to operate about 500 health centers in retail locations. It opened its first clinic in North Texas in 2006.
