9/15/2016

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer has kicked off its partnership with Shipt in Detroit, allowing  for home grocery home delivery. Now Meijer shoppers can use the Shipt app to order their groceries to be delivered within an hour.

"We strive to provide our customers the best one-stop shopping experience they can find, so we believe this service adds a new convenience when shopping at Meijer," Meijer VP digital shopping and customer marketing Michael Ross said. "We're excited to offer our customers another convenient way to shop our stores."

The app is membership-based and allows users to shop for 55,000 grocery and everyday items from 25 area stores. Meijer customers can sign up for annual $99 memberships or monthly memberships for $14 per month. New members will receive $25 off their first order for a limited time and delivery is free for orders over $35, with orders under $35 subject to a $7 flat delivery fee. The service will be available from certain Meijer locations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with some holiday exceptions. Meijer said that though Shipt will honor most in-store sales, including buy one, get one offers, some sale items may differ.

"Through our relationship with Meijer, we are looking forward to making life easier for busy individuals and families, while also creating hundreds of jobs throughout the Detroit area," Shipt founder CEO Bill Smith said. "Shipt's shopper community is comprised of reliable, hardworking people who are committed to serving our members. We are excited to expand that community in Detroit and continue doing what we do best – simplifying lives."
