NCPA debuts digital edition of magazine

8/14/2012

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National Community Pharmacists Association on Monday made its monthly magazine, America’s Pharmacist, available online and via mobile devices with a newly launched digital edition at Americaspharmacist.net.

“We’re excited to launch this enhanced digital edition so that our members can read their favorite pharmacy magazine at their convenience,” NCPA president Lonny Wilson said. “As the world becomes more mobile and our members increasingly offer more patient services away from the counter, we want to be sure they can access America’s Pharmacist anytime and anywhere.”

The content is identical to the printed magazine, with a host of enhancements, the association noted, including enhanced navigation, special page marker tabs that mimic physical bookmarks, drop-down menus displaying special content, and "sticky" notes. Add-ons can include embedded video and audio files, flash animation, margin ads, and e-cards that NCPA members will receive every month alerting them to go online and read the latest issue on their computer.

The e-magazine also is available on many tablet devices using iOS and Android operating systems.

NCPA student members, whose print copies of America's Pharmacist often get delayed or lost because of summer breaks and multiple address changes, will receive the digital edition exclusively starting in September.

There also is an easily searchable archive of the last 12 issues in PDF format on that same landing page. The complete archive, still under construction, will go back to 2005.
