NCPA names 2011 Catalyst Grant Award for Innovate Practice award winner
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The National Community Pharmacists Association on Monday announced the winner of the 2011 Catalyst Grant Award for Innovate Practice, which was awarded to Steve Hiemenz, co-owner of Elm Plaza Pharmacy in Hinsdale, Ill., during NCPA's annual convention held here.
Hiemenz’s winning submission was titled “Community Pharmacy and Patient Management of Diabetic Neuropathy.” The project will establish a community pharmacy model to mitigate diabetes pain complications through medication therapy management and patient education.
“Steve Hiemenz is a deserving recipient of the Catalyst Grant Award for Innovative Practice, because he is striving to improve the value of pharmacy services for patients,” stated Sharlea Leatherwood, NCPA Foundation president. “His efforts will make a big difference in treating diabetes by finding ways to maximize the help pharmacists can offer.”
