New South University pharmacy dean to oversee programs in Ga., S.C.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — South University has appointed a new dean of its pharmacy school, the university announced.


Curtis Jones will oversee pharmacy programs for the South University School of Pharmacy in Georgia and South Carolina, reporting to vice chancellor of academic affairs Steven Yoho.


Jones started working for the school 10 years ago as assistant professor of pharmaceutical sciences and served in that position until 2007. In addition to teaching, he conducted esearch focusing on drug delivery to brain tumors, hemostasis and the diagnosis and treatment of chronic wounds.


"Dr. Jones brings the highest qualities to the position of dean of the School of Pharmacy," Yoho said. "He is a well-known researcher with the expertise, knowledge and scientific curiosity to advance his field, he is an experienced educator who consistently seeks to improve the level of curriculum and instruction, and he is a proven leader within the pharmacy sector who is focused on providing his students with excellence in education that will prepare them for a life of learning and growth."
