New website aims to help businesses understand ACA

8/1/2013

WASHINGTON — A new website aims to educate businesses about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The Obama administration announced Thursday the launch of what it calls a one-stop-shop website to provide employers of all sizes with education materials on the healthcare reform law and how it might affect them and help them compete, connecting them to information on tax credits and other provisions of the law from the Small Business Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Treasury Department.

Last month, the administration announced that it would delay until 2015 the provisions of the law that require employers to provide health insurance for their employees. That part of the law had been set to take effect in 2014.

"As the Affordable Care Act is implemented, it is so important for us to work with the business community and provide employers with th information they need," Department of Commerce secretary Penny Pritzker said. "The healthcare website on Business.USA.gov/healthcare will be a tremendous resource for self-employed Americans and businesses of all sizes to learn what the Affordable Care Act means for them."
